Despite the COVID-19 situation, the Design Council Busan was found to have achieved excellent results in various fields such as institutional management and business sectors, in which it ‘fostered the design industry in Busan’ last year.

Institutional management-related awards include ▲Busan Metropolitan City Design Industry Promotion Award ▲Busan Metropolitan Small and Medium Business Product Public Purchase Award ▲Busan Safety Culture Movement Promotion Award ▲ Busan Metropolitan City’s Design Industry Award.The Design Council Busan has proven its achievements for the ecosystem.

In particular, efforts to strengthen the identity that meet the purpose of the establishment of the Design Council Busan were recognized, such as establishing a project plan to reflect Busan’s policies to foster the design industry in Busan and providing practical support related to the enactment of ordinances to support the design industry.

The Design Council Busan achieved business sector awards including ▲Busan Metropolitan City Job Creation Support Award ▲Busan Metropolitan City Startup Support Agency Business Performance Award ▲Busan Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration Award ▲Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Content Industry (Fashion Field) Development Award ▲Award for public design work promotion of Ulsan Metropolitan City, and proved its competitiveness.

In particular, the Design Council Busan is operating the Startup Leap Package (Ministry of SMEs and Startups) and the Sports Startup Support Center (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), which are representative projects of design-led job creation and startup support. As of 2021, it nurtures and supports a total of 127 companies, ranging from preliminary and early founders, re-founders, to startups in the growth phase.

Meanwhile, Kang Pil-Hyeon, president of the Design Council of Busan, said, “The various awards received by the employees of the Council are meaningful achievements that prove the ability of the Design Council Busan to develop sustainable design policies that citizens can experience in the future. Based on this, we will reorganize the design management system and promote the systematic design city of Busan for citizens happiness.”
